About Chateau Angludet
One of Bordeaux’s oldest properties, there is a reference to Chevalier Bernard d’Angludet in 1319, and the Manor House existed on the current site in the 12th Century. Peter Sichel, the Father of the current generation of 5 brothers and 1 daughter, bought Angludet in 1961, an Estate of 80ha in total, but with only 7ha of vines at the time, making sadly only 11 barrels of the 1961 vintage, 275 cases 12/1. The vineyard now covers 34ha. Ben Sichel took over the winemaking from his Father in 1989. The other 4 brothers work in the family negociant business Maison Sichel SA on the Quai de Bacalan, an office that was founded in 1883. Ch Angludet was not classified in 1855, but if there was ever to be a reclassification, it would probably be a fifth or even a fourth Growth.
The Sichel family are the owners of Chateau Angludet Margaux, Chateau Argadens BordeauxSup,Chateau Trillol Corbieres, and are the major shareholders of Chateau Palmer.
